Making Of: Yao Jing ~ Perfect World

Era da molto che volevo provare a fare un kimono o uno yukata e quando ho visto questo wallpaper sono rimasta a bocca aperta! Come al solito mentre lavoro non mi viene quasi mai in mente di fare scatti dei progressi, ma piano piano sto provando a prendere l'abitudine, anche perchè mi infastidisce molto che qualcuno si permetta di dire che i miei costumi siano comprati. Ad ogni modo scusate la bassa qualità di certe foto che sono state scattate col cellulare che ho più a portata di mano quando lavoro. Ringrazio moltissimo Yamina per avermi aiutato ed essermi stata vicina, fare un costume in sua compagnia è davvero fantastico! Ora non vedo l'ora di fare coppia con Amy alla gara del Comicon!

It has been some time now I wanted to make a kimono or a yukata and when I saw this wallpaper I was totally stunned. Of course while I work I almost never think about taking photos of the progress, but slowly I'm trying to learn to do it as often as possible, because it really bothers me when people accuse me of buying my costumes. Anyways, apologizes for the low quality of some shots as they were taken with my mobile since it was closer to me while I was working. Big thanks to Yamina for the amazing time we spent together, to make a costume with her is really amazing! Now I can't wait to perform in couple with Amy at Comicon's contest !

Quando a Parigi ho visto questi cartamodelli ero felicissima! Costano poco e rendono tutto davvero facile! All'inizio è un pò noioso perchè bisogna stare attenti e tagliare seguendo le linee della propria taglia, la carta è delicatissima ed è facile sbagliare, ma una volta che si sono ottenute tutte le parti basta appoggiarle alla stoffa e ritagliare, et voilà! Il gioco è fatto! Tutto pronto per essere cucito, per altro nelle "istruzioni" del cartamodello ci sono anche consigliate che cuciture seguire. Io ho dovuto alterare un pò i cartamodelli per allungare le maniche e accorciare il busto, inoltre ho aggiunto i bordini nel busto e nelle maniche bianchi e verde acqua.

When I was in Paris and I saw this pattern in the fabric shop I was totally overwhelmed with joy! It's really cheap and it makes things much more simple.Maybe at first is a bit bothersome because the fabric is fragile and you need to really watch where you're cutting to follow your size pattern, but once you're finished cutting everything you just lay it on the fabric, cut everything et voila! Everything is ready to be sewn, and by the way in the instructions within the patterns there are also suggestions on which sewings fit better and what lines you should follow. I had to alter the sleeves to make them longer and shortern the skirt, I also added the white and aqua little borders around the sleeves and the chest part.

Una volta cucito viene il lavoro "divertente"... ovviamente il mio aerografo ha deciso di non collaborare (non ho idea del perchè) e non ho trovato da nessuna parte le bombolette di colore per stoffa, quindi l'ho comprato liquido. Ho bagnato la parte che dovevo sfumare e piano piano ho steso il colore, all'inizio sembra un gran casino ma strofinando per bene si ottiene un gradiente decente.

Once everything was well sewn the "fun part" began... of course my airbrush decided to stop working (and I still don't know why) and I couldn't find the spray cans with fabric color, so I had to buy it in tube. I wet the portions of fabric I had to blend and I brushed the color with my hands, maybe at first it looked messy, but little by little I got a decent gradient.

Perfetto, le maniche e la gonna hanno il gradiente magenta, mentre tutto si asciuga è ora di iniziare a pensare ai fiorellini! Ho preso l'immagine (purtroppo non ad alta qualità) dell wallpaper e ho riproporzionato tutti i fiori ritagliandoli uno ad uno su photoshop. In seguito li ho stampati sulla teletta adesiva in modo che bastasse poi passare il ferro da stiro per incollarli alla stoffa. Ma quanti erano... più di 300 fiorellini da tagliare uno ad uno, se Yamina non mi avesse aiutata sarei impazzita di sicuro!

Perfect, sleeves and skirt had their magenta gradient. While everything dried off it was time to start thinking about the little flowers! I opened the reference image (unluckily on low quality) of the wallpaper rescaling and cut all the flowers one by one with photoshop. Oh my God the flowers were so many... over 300 and we had to cut them all one by one, thank God Yamina helped me or I would have gone mad for sure.

Bene, ora con il colore azzurro chiaro per stoffa dovevo trovare il modo di "stampare" i cerchietti sulle maniche. Ammetto che all'inizio per colpa di Yamina avevo avuto la masochistica idea di attaccarci dei salvabuchi!! Però poi ho trovato un evidenziatore che aveva il fondo perfetto e ho usato quello. Per quanto i fiori sembrassero infiniti ovviamente quando è ora di metterli al loro posto non sono mai abbastanza, però una volta stirato il tutto il risultato è soddisfacente.

All right, now with the turquoise fabric color I had to find a way to make those little circles. At first, because of Yama, I was thinking about using paper reinforcements!! But after I found an underliner that had the bottom just perfectly shaped and I used that one instead. As many as the flowers could seem they were never enough when the time to iron them came, but once I set everything in place the result was satisfying.

Orecchie e coda, che ho fatto anche per Amy, sono state facilissime. Ho usato della stoffa pelosa "rosso volpe" e stoffa pelosa bianca., Per le code ho disegnato una forma sinuosa e poi ritagliato le due parti simmetriche, mentre per le orecchie ho usato una base di cartoncino a cui ho incollato la stoffa.

Ears and tails that i made for both of us were really easy. I used "red fox" fur fabric and white fur fabric. For the tails I cut an "S" shape and cut the symmetrical parts, while for the ears I used paperboard as base and stuck the fabric on it.

La parrucca mi era arrivata un pò schiacciata nella busta, ma con un pò di spilli e tanta tanta lacca per capelli ho rimediato senza problemi, ho anche accorciato leggermente le punte. Per ora questo è tutto! Sono proprio contenta di fare finalmente una coppia con Amy!

The wig arrived a bit flat in the mail but with some pins and a lot of hairspray I could fix it without any problem. I also cut the tips a bit. Well that's everything! I'm really glad I could finally prepare a couple with Amy!
